Nicollette graduated from SUNY Cobleskill in 2012 with a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. There she took classes such as Canine Management, Behavior Problems of Companion Animals, and Care and Training of the Working Dog.

After graduation she worked for ten years in the veterinary field, where she eventually took additional training classes, and began offering a puppy training and socialization class at the clinic she was working at.

Nicollette continued to gain outside knowledge including the STS positive-only training program. She then used these skills to train her own working breed dogs, and help shelter dogs with bad habits become more adoptable.

In July 2023, enough people were asking her for help training their dogs that her husband Andy, owner of Outlander, encouraged her to leave the veterinary field and offer dog training for the company.
